Book Across the Bay
Book Across the Bay is a unique winter event in Wisconsin, open to skiers and snowshoers in mid-February. The event features a 10km course over the frozen surface of Lake Superior. Book Across the Bay takes place at night lit up by the night sky and up to 1,000 candles in ice luminaries that line the route. The event starts in Ashland and ends at Thompson’s West End Park in Washburn. Once you have finished, you can enjoy a beautiful firework show over Chequamegon Bay.
Bike Across the Bay
Bike Across the Bay occurs the morning after the Book Across the Bay ski race. This is a fat bike race held on the frozen surface of Lake Superior, available as a 10k or 20k. The registration and after-party will take place at the Harbor View Event Center. After finishing the race, you can enjoy a free food buffet, live music, and local vendors at the event center.
48th Slumberland American Birkebeiner
The country’s largest cross-country ski race is in Cable, Wisconsin. This event has brought over 40,000 skiers and spectators to the area in the past. Skiers will make their way through the forest on Birkie Trail and travel 50 kilometers to the finish line in Hayward. This event is part of the Birkie Week celebration, where there are different races for every age and skill level. There will also be an expo where you can shop for ski gear to fuel your outdoor lifestyle.
