Get ready for the 14th Annual Fall Brew Weekend on October 25-26, 2013 and celebrate with fresh Wisconsin microbrews, delicious food, and exceptional lodging in Bayfield WI.  Enjoy a series of beer tastings held at Le Chateau, our other Bayfield WI Bed and Breakfast, and the South Shore Brewery in Ashland. The highlight of the weekend is a 6-course gourmet dinner at the historic Landmark Restaurant at Old Rittenhouse Inn, with craft brews specially selected to match each dish.

The Midwest is the Best!
Our focus this year is regional brews from Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Michigan. The Midwest has a strong heritage of beer making tradition, and some of the region’s finest brewers live and work within a day’s drive of Bayfield. At our Friday and Saturday night events, we will be tasting beers from the likes of Fitgers (Duluth, MN), Lake Superior Brewing Co. (Duluth), South Shore Brewery (Ashland, WI), Doane Beer (Ashland, WI), Keweenaw Brewing Company (Houghton, MI), New Glarus Brewing Company (New Glarus, WI), and many more favorites from around the Midwest.

Fall Beer Tasting and Appetizer Reception
Friday, October 25 from 7:00-9:00pm

This casual event offers a chance to enjoy a variety of Wisconsin microbrews (usually about 7-9 different beers) and a buffet of gourmet appetizers and desserts prepared by Landmark Restaurant at Old Rittenhouse Inn. The tasting takes place at our Le Chateau property, located at 7 Rice Avenue in Bayfield. Here you’ll have the opportunity to meet expert brewers Bo and Justin from South Shore Brewery, who share their vast brewing knowledge, and always bring a special surprise brew. Also joining us will be Eric and Adam from Doane Beer. We’ll taste hoppy beers, fest beers, dark beers, and a few easy drinkers. The Friday Beer Tasting event is included in the Fall Brew Weekend package, or available a’ la carte for $45/person plus tax and gratuity.

Friday Beers: The beer tasting menu includes hoppy beers, fest beers, pale ales, an award-winning barleywine, and a few easy drinkers, including: New Belgium Shift Lager, Fitgers Pale Ale, Local Allure Fresh Hopped Beer, South Shore Brewery Porter, Doane Beer, Tallgrass Pub Ale, Bells 2 hearted Ale, Ale Asylum Satisfaction Jacksin – double IPA, Sierra Nevada Torpedo IPA, and Central Waters Bourbon Barrel Barleywine.

Friday Foods: The Appetizer menu includes: potato salad with bison bacon, caramelized shallots, & sauerkraut. Marinated-grilled flank steak with mustard-ale aioli. Antipasto platter with prosciutto wrapped asparagus, pickled crimini mushrooms, local smoked sausages, local artisan cheeses, & house smoked Lake Trout. Beer-braised pulled pork sliders with pickled red onion. aged cheddar & Autumnal Fire BBQ. Chorizo egg rolls with braised red cabbage and sweet red pepper. Cheddar-Jalapeno Bacon Dip with Fried garlic breadsticks. Double Chocolate-Stout Cupcakes.

Brewery Tour and Tasting
Saturday, October 26 from 12:00-2:00pm

On Saturday afternoon, we journey to nearby Ashland for a visit to the South Shore Brewery for a guided brewery tour that takes us through the entire beer production process, from making wort to the bottling line. You’ll also have the opportunity to sample South Shore Brewery’s fine beers, and enjoy a pub lunch on your own if you wish. This event is included in the weekend package, or available a’ la carte for $35/person plus tax and gratuity.

Fall Brew Dinner

Without a doubt, the highlight of the weekend is the Fall Brew Dinner served Saturday evening. You might wish to skip lunch and save room for the 6-Course Fall Brew Dinner, where each course is accompanied by a tasty regionally-brewed beer hand-selected to compliment the menu. The courses include appetizer, soup, salad, sorbet, entree and dessert, see menu below. This event is included in the weekend package, or available a’ la carte for $75/person plus tax and gratuity.
