The CAMBA trail system consists of over 300 miles of bike trails through Northern Wisconsin. Mountain biking in the Lake Superior region has become a favorite destination for cyclists. The CAMBA trail system stretches throughout national and county forests in Northern Wisconsin, including right here in Bayfield. New single-track trails were recently built at Mt. Ashwabay, which has several trails ranging from easy to expert. If you don’t have your own bike, you can rent one for the day from Howl Adventure Center

Road Routes in Bayfield

There are several road routes you can take within the town of Bayfield. This biking roads map is a great tool to navigate Bayfield and read descriptions of suggested routes. The recommended routes are over 20 miles long, so make sure you pack enough water and a hearty lunch for your trip. The Sand Bay Loop is a local favorite to see exceptional beach views. After three miles of rolling hills, you will come to a peninsula where you will see big Sand Island and Eagle Island views. On the way home, you can stop at Superior View Orchards or head back towards Bayfield instead. 

Biking on Madeline Island

Take the ferry from Bayfield to Madeline Island to explore this beautiful island on your bike. The ferry will bring your right to downtown La Pointe, where you can either start your biking journey or rent a bike from Motion To Go. From here, bike 6.5 miles from downtown to Big Bay State Park. This park is the perfect place to stop for a picnic or to cool down in the water. You can see the picturesque views of Madeline Island on all of these bike routes.
