New 2017 Shows Announced!

It’s almost concert time! Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua, just three miles from Bayfield, Wisconsin and overlooking Lake Superior, has released several names of musicians who will appear at the tent this summer.

If you have visited Big Top Chautauqua, you know about the quality sound, beautiful starlit views, and the excellent of musicians awaiting you: Mary Chapin Carpenter, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Blackberry Smoke, The Beach Boys, Asleep at the Wheel with Dale Watson, Here Come the Mummies, Ricky Skaggs & Kentucky Thunder, Mary Black, Ziggy Marley, and Delbert McClinton, and many more.

For those who haven’t been, wait no longer! Audiences of all ages flock to the Big Top for a fabulous blend of good sound, open air summer concerts, and an experience like no other. Enjoy stunning views of Lake Superior from the top of Mt. Ashwabay. Hear your favorite band or take in one of the entertaining and informative historical musicals about the area.

Brandi Carlisle at Lake Superior Big Top – Live Music in Wisconsin

Singer-songwriter Brandi Carlisle will return once again to Lake Superior Big Top Chautauqua. She’s one of the favorite performers at the Big Top for good reason, and is known for her big, belting voice and well-crafted songs.

Brandi Carlisle has consistently packed the Big Top on each stop through town. Carlyle is currently touring in support of a newly released album, “The Fire Watcher’s Daughter.” Her music mixes genres from folk to rock to alternative country, but Carlisle is perhaps best known for her hit song, “The Story.”

Make plans to enjoy an evening with Lyle Lovett and his large band July 30 at 7:30 PM at Lake Superior’s Big Top Chautauqua. Lyle Lovett has become a perennial favorite at Lake Superior Big Top. This year will mark the third year in a row that he has played here and clearly the fans can’t get enough.

Lovett and his band deliver an incredible night of entertainment straight from Texas. This four-time Grammy award winner singer-songwriter and actor has broadened the definition of American music. His career spans 14 albums, with appearances in movies and television. The Texas-based musician combines country, swing, jazz, folk, blues and gospel in a manner that defies convention and expectations. His band is incredible, truly one of the hottest groups to ever play at Big Top Chautauqua.

Arlo Guthrie to Appear at Big Top Chautauqua

Living legend, songwriter and singer, Arlo Guthrie, returns to the Big Top for his seventh appearance on the Chautauqua stage this summer on Thursday, July 9 at 7:30 PM. Guthrie will present material from throughout his illustrious career and celebrate the 50th anniversary of the event that inspired his seminal song “Alice’s Restaurant Massacree.”

This is a day when people put aside differences and enjoy the company of others while having a good time. Enjoy the big, brand-new canvas tent with state-of-the-art stage and sound system and one of folk music’s legends: Arlo Guthrie.

Mr. Guthrie has performed everywhere from Carnegie Hall too, well, just about everywhere! Born in Coney Island, Brooklyn, Arlo is the eldest son of America’s beloved singer, songwriter and philosopher Woody Guthrie. Arlo grew up surrounded by dancers and musicians like Pete Seger, Leadbelly, Ramblin Jack Elliott, and Brownie McGee. Arlo gave his first public performance and age 13 and is pleased to return to Lake Superior’s Big Top Chautauqua for his seventh appearance.

Wassail Dinner Concerts Underway at Old Rittenhouse Inn

The 2014 Wassail Dinner Concert series is officially underway. Wassail concerts are held in December at Old Rittenhouse Inn, Bayfield, WI’s first B&B Country Inn. Wassail concerts are unique in that they feature an intimate interaction between the singers and the audience. The result is a moving and memorable experience for those in attendance.

During the 12:00 Noon or 6:30 PM Dinner Concerts, the Old Rittenhouse Singers perform throughout the building in the dining rooms, hallways and on the home’s large main staircase. You’ll enjoy the food and music, along with highlights such as the “Boar’s Head” song and the traditional “Flaming of the Figgy Pudding.”

The Old Rittenhouse Inn is decorated for the season with hundreds of yards of roping and white lights. The pillars are wrapped in ribbons and light, and the 16 foot Concolor Fire Christmas tree is filled with over 600 silver and white decorations that show off its beautiful 2-inch-long blue needles.
