Step-On
Tour Notes
The tour originates at the steps of the Inn and travels down the
hill to 'Sawmill Flats' and Lake Superior, the largest freshwater
lake in the world.
Your
tour takes you through the history of Bayfield's waterfront. See
the docks where commercial fishermen still earn their living,
and where yachts and sailboats find safe haven in the natural
protection of the Apostle Islands.
The
Apostle Islands National Lakeshore was established in 1970 to
protect the pristine nature of the Apostle Islands. Groups will
enjoy a visit to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore Visitor
Center, where a short film depicts the natural beauty and cultural
history of this freshwater archipelago.
Next
stop - Bayfield's incredible orchard country. Admire beautiful
vistas of the great lake and acres of apple trees and berry bushes
scattered among the hillside fruit farms.
And finally, a stop at a quaint
gift shop, Erickson's Country Store and fruit stand! You'll find
gifts and edibles of all varieties. Take home a souvenier of your
day in beautiful Bayfield. |
