hat
better way to experience the beauty and craftsmanship of
times past than to settle yourself into a guest room filled
with art, antiques and collectibles? The Rittenhouse Inn
is pleased to announce our 3rd Annual Antiques Weekend
and Appraisal Fair, Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, 2007.
Innkeepers
and lifetime antique collectors, Mary and Jerry Phillips
will discuss the significance of their historic Inn as well
as identify pieces from their extensive collection including
art glass, lamps, furniture, porcelain, silver and more!
The focus of this year's event is Native American Art and
Antiques.
The
weekend begins Friday night with a wine and appetizer reception
at Le Chateau Boutin. This casual gathering allows you to
meet artists Kurt Buffalo and Diane Defoe.
Following
breakfast Saturday morning, you'll travel to the Madeline
Island Historical Museum where an exhibit of Native American
artifacts includes paintings of native mythology by William
Rabbit, a collection of Native American Dolls from around
the country, and more!
A highlight of the weekend is the Old Rittenhouse Inn’s
five-course gourmet dinner. In addition to the fabulous
food, the Phillips’ will discuss how to fill your
life with beautiful things that will significantly rise
in value. Before dessert you'll also have the opportunity
to share one of your personal antiques or collectibles.
Please Note: items need not be Native American, any item
from any era is acceptable. The “Show and Tell”
will be both fun and informative as guests learn about the
items being identified and appraised.
After
full breakfast Sunday morning, visit the Innkeeper's private
home in Bayfield to view their extensive Native American
Art Collection, and the collection of locals Sue & Jerry
DePerry.
The Antiques Weekend is a great way to meet new people who
share your interest in antiques and collectibles. Weekend
packages include Friday reception, lodging two nights, breakfast,
weekend seminar and activities, as well as Saturday's dinner.
Packages offered for single or double occupancy, plus tax
and server gratuity.
