BAYFIELD,
WI:
Gateway to the Apostle Islands
Bayfield is located on
the shores of Lake Superior on the northernmost peninsula in Wisconsin.
Just off Bayfield's shore are the Apostle Islands. This chain
of 22 islands forms a protective barrier against large waves and
harsh weather, making a safe haven for this small harbor village.
The big lake moderates the weather,
creating warmer winters and cooler summers. The climate is ideal
for growing a wide variety of produce, fruits and berries.
Bayfield is home to commercial fishermen, lumbermen, hoteliers,
musicians and artists. Visitors to Bayfield find un-crowded shops,
unspoiled nature and a slower pace. People here are honest and
friendly. The scenery is fantastic...and not a single stoplight
in the entire county!
Whether you're the outdoor
adventure type or simply like to relax with a good book, Bayfield
is the place for you. Most travelers say their getaway was a relaxing
experience, just what they needed. Find out for yourself why Bayfield
was named the "Best Little Town in the Midwest" and
"Berry Capital of Wisconsin".
